Micromax Yu Yureka : Naam Bade Darshan Chhote!

To start, I would like to tell you that this piece of writing is all about the legendary Micromax Yu Yureka that holds a big name in today’s smartphone market and is gaining fans and new buyers day by day. The smartphone being awesome on paper has many disadvantages.

[alert type=blue ]Before you continue, I would like to say that if you are a fan of this phone and get offended easily, this article is not for you. Moreover, if you are not a fan but own this stupendous device and get offended easily when someone criticizes your things, then this article is not for you too.[/alert]

Okay, so let’s get on with it now.

It has been a few weeks since Micromax launched it’s so called “Premium” device named Yu Yureka whom they call the “Zeus” of smartphones. Lately, it caught a lot of attention because of its aggressive pricing and Mind Blowing features on Paper. This phone boasts of mind blowing features at the price index  of ₹9000 and FindTheBest has all of them listed so I will spare me the hard work.

So Yu Yureka fans, if you are still reading this, you really are genuine people and want to know the truth. So let me tell you what, ’You just shot yourself in the leg by buying this phone'. The phone may have good features on paper but as a user, you will know that they are not up to the mark and they are as follows :

1: Display

The display may not be awful but as the phone is getting praises and attention daily all over the country, I think it doesn’t deserve that much. The display is of 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and only 267 ppi. I have seen other phones with the same specs but the display is not that bad. Here, the colors are shattered and pixels scattered. I mean, compare it to the likes of Zenfone 5 and Moto G2, they have awesome display. As I told you I will keep it short, so moving on.

2: Built Quality

The built quality of Yu Yureka is not up to the mark. I saw what Micromax told to The Indian Express while boasting Yu Yureka off before it’s launch,“Our youth are tech natives and would love to use this type of technology. It is just that no one has given them anything of this kind till now.” You know what? They are right, they just gave you what no one ever did, they fooled even the Geeks, by launching it along with Cyanogen OS. The black color of the back panel begins to fade too soon as experienced by many users and the phone is not very sturdy.

3: Battery

The smartphone has 2,500 mAh battery which assert to offer 7 hours of 4G talktime, or 8 hours of 3G talktime, or 9 hours of 2G talk time, or 6 hours of music playback having brightness set to maximum. However, the battery backup isn’t as hortative as they say as it has a 4G LTE support and the 5.5 inch display packed with a power processor, which takes lots of power to run.

4: Heating Issue

Yu Yureka has been in controversy lately for its heating issue. If you ever go out and ask for reviews from different users, the first cons that pops out is the “Heating Issue”. The Device is not even able to handle the hardware and that level of optimization is what makes it cheap.

5: Software and Hardware

There is not a lot to say about the Software and Hardware compatibility, I mean it’s directly or indirectly a “MICROMAX” smartphone. It has to suck when it comes to its software. Though it has Cyanogen OS which is why Geeks choose it over others but don’t be-fooled by it. The OS is great but the compatibility is worst and you will notice frequent lags and errors. That too, different errors on different pieces which makes it hard to debug. In Hindi, there is a popular saying :

“Teri Meri banti nahi but Tere Bina meri chalti nahi” says Yureka’s hardware to its software.

6: Sales and Service

Sales and service of Micromax and anything related to it sucks. Period.

However, Yu Yureka has a policy that they will take the device that needs to be repaired from your doorsteps and return it back at your doorsteps, when completed. Though the doorstep replacement of the handset/accessory service is currently available in 115 cities in India and for cities where the doorstep service is not available, the customers can send the device directly to Yu’s Central Service Centre and they will reimburse the courier amount to them, which is appreciable. But as it is a Micromax subsidiary, it will take around a month or more to get repaired or replaced in standard cities as suffered by most of our Micromax device users, leaving one to their own devices.
