According to Ved, he was awake till night and was searching for Google Domains, Google’s buying service when he found out that Google.Com was available. To his and to our surprise, the price of google.com domain was $12.00.
“I used to work at Google so I keep messing around with the product. I type in Google.com and to my surprise it showed it as available. I thought it was some error, but I could actually complete check out.”
The moment he purchased the domain, his Google Search Console Dashboard was updated with the Google.com domain owner. Not just this, he even received emails about internal information which he has already reported to Google’s security team.
“The scary part was I had access to the webmaster controls for a minute. So for one minute I had access. At least I can now say I’m the man who owned Google.com for a minute.”
A Google spokesperson said that they are looking into the issue but haven’t noticed anything unusual. Although his ownership of world’s most-trafficked domain was short lived but Ved says that “I can’t shake that feeling that I actually owned Google.com”.
